Lower Neosho

Watershed Hydrology

The Lower Neosho Watershed, with a land area of 4,149 square miles, spans through Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma. The watershed is characterized by its gentle slope and rolling terrain. It is mainly drained by the Neosho River, which is a tributary of the Arkansas River. The area receives an average annual rainfall of 40-50 inches, with the highest precipitation in the spring and summer months. The watershed has abundant surface water resources, including several reservoirs, such as John Redmond Reservoir, which serves as a source of drinking water, flood control, and recreational activities. The snowpack in the area is not significant, as the region mainly experiences mild winters.
