North Fork Edisto

Watershed Hydrology

The North Fork Edisto Watershed (HUC 03050203) covers an area of approximately 1,000 square miles in central South Carolina. The hydrology of the watershed is dominated by the North Fork Edisto River, which flows for roughly 60 miles before joining with the South Fork Edisto River to form the mainstem Edisto River. The region experiences a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. The North Fork Edisto Watershed is not known for significant snowpack or reservoirs, but it does contain numerous wetlands, ponds, and small streams that support diverse aquatic life. The watershed is also home to extensive forests and agricultural land, which can impact water quality and quantity.
