Upper Conecuh

Watershed Hydrology

The Upper Conecuh Watershed (HUC 03140301) encompasses approximately 1,168 square miles in south-central Alabama. It is primarily characterized by a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. The watershed is part of the larger Conecuh River Basin, and its hydrology is primarily influenced by precipitation patterns and groundwater recharge. Specific snowpack is rare in this region due to its location in the southern United States. Surface water resources in the watershed include several small streams and tributaries, as well as the Conecuh River and its associated reservoirs. Reservoir constituents include fish species such as largemouth bass and crappie, as well as waterfowl and other wildlife. There is limited data available on climatic trends in the watershed, but it is likely that increased temperatures and precipitation variability may impact water resources and aquatic habitats in the future.
