Watershed Hydrology

The Patsaliga Watershed (HUC 03140302) covers an area of approximately 415 square miles in southern Alabama. The hydrology of the watershed is largely influenced by the Conecuh River, which flows through the southern portion of the area. The watershed experiences a humid subtropical climate with an average annual precipitation of 57 inches. The area occasionally experiences severe weather events, including hurricanes and tornadoes. Snowfall is rare in this region. The primary source of surface water is the Patsaliga Creek, which enters the Conecuh River near the town of Brantley. There are no significant reservoirs in the watershed. Agriculture is the primary land use in the Patsaliga Watershed, with the majority of the area devoted to row crop production. The watershed is home to a variety of species, including the federally endangered Red Hills salamander.
