Beaver-Lester

Watershed Hydrology

The Beaver Lester watershed (HUC 04010102) spans roughly 1,150 square miles in western Wyoming and eastern Idaho. The watershed receives the majority of its precipitation in the form of snow, which accumulates in the high-elevation mountains during the winter months. The snowpack serves as a critical source of water for the watershed, feeding numerous streams and rivers that ultimately flow into the Snake River. The watershed is home to several reservoirs that serve as important storage facilities for agricultural, municipal, and industrial water use. Snowpack in the watershed has been declining in recent years, likely due to warming temperatures, and this trend is expected to continue in the coming decades. This could have significant impacts on water availability for both human and ecological use, as well as impacts on the local economy.
