Watershed Hydrology

The HUC 10240013 watershed is located in the northern Cascade Range of Washington State, covering approximately 184 square miles. It is characterized by steep, rugged terrain with elevations ranging from 1,000 to 6,000 feet. The watershed is fed by snowmelt, and specific snowpack data is collected regularly to help predict water availability in the spring and summer. Surface water in the area is dominated by small streams and tributaries, which eventually flow into the Skagit River. The watershed contains several reservoirs, which are used for hydroelectric power generation and water storage. The area experiences a maritime climate, with mild, wet winters and dry summers. Recent climate trends in the region indicate an increase in winter precipitation, which can lead to greater snow accumulation and potential for flooding in the spring.
