Twisted Oak Campground is situated in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois. The best time to visit the campground is in the fall or spring, when the temperatures are mild and the foliage is at its most beautiful. Average temperatures in the fall range from the mid-50s to the mid-70s, while spring temperatures range from the mid-40s to the mid-60s.
