Travis Camping Area is situated on the shore of Lake Travis, in the Hill Country of Texas. The area is surrounded by picturesque views of rolling hills and lush greenery. There are several nearby points of interest, including the Hamilton Pool Nature Preserve, Pedernales Falls State Park, and the city of Austin, which is just a short drive away.

An interesting fact about the area is that the lake was created in the 1940s by building the Mansfield Dam on the Colorado River. The dam was named after J. J. Mansfield, who served as the first mayor of Austin.
