Watershed Hydrology

The Boeuf Watershed (HUC 08050001) covers an area of approximately 1,172 square miles in northeastern Louisiana. The hydrology of the watershed is dominated by the Boeuf River, which is fed by several smaller creeks and streams in the area. The region experiences a humid subtropical climate, with hot summers and mild winters. Snowfall is relatively rare in the area, with an average of less than one inch per year. The surface water in the watershed is used for agricultural irrigation and recreational activities. Several reservoirs, including Boeuf Lake and Turkey Creek Lake, are located within the watershed. The reservoirs contain a variety of fish species, including largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie. Interestingly, the Boeuf Watershed has experienced a trend of decreasing annual precipitation over the past few decades, which may have implications for water availability in the region.
