Upper Weber

Watershed Hydrology

The Upper Weber Watershed (HUC 16020101) covers approximately 448 square miles in northeastern Utah. The watershed is characterized by high elevations, steep terrain, and a continental climate with cold winters and hot summers. The snowpack is a critical component of the hydrology in the watershed, providing a reliable source of water for downstream users. The watershed contains numerous streams and rivers, including the Weber River, which is a major source of drinking water for the region. There are also several reservoirs in the watershed, including East Canyon Reservoir and Lost Creek Reservoir. These reservoirs are used for water storage, recreation, and fish habitat. In recent years, the watershed has experienced drought conditions, with decreased snowpack and surface water availability. Additionally, there has been an increase in wildfires and erosion, which have impacted the hydrology and water quality of the watershed.
