Watershed Hydrology

The Siuslaw watershed covers an area of approximately 1,786 square miles along the central coast of Oregon. The watershed is characterized by steep terrain, with elevations ranging from sea level to over 5,000 feet. Hydrologically, the Siuslaw watershed is dominated by precipitation, which is highest in the winter months. Snowpack is not a significant factor in this region due to the mild climate. Surface water is abundant, with numerous streams and rivers flowing into the Pacific Ocean. The watershed also includes several reservoirs, which provide water for irrigation and other uses. The climatic conditions in the Siuslaw watershed are influenced by the marine environment, with cool, moist conditions prevailing throughout much of the year. The area is notable for its high rainfall, which averages around 80 inches per year. In recent years, there has been a trend towards warmer temperatures and more extreme weather events, which may have significant impacts on the watershed in the future.
