The campground operates on a reservation system, and reservations can be made up to nine months in advance.
An interesting fact about the area is that the lake is actually a man-made reservoir created in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The best time to visit is during the summer months, from June to August, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to low 80s Fahrenheit. However, visitors can also enjoy the fall foliage during September and October when the temperatures cool down to the 50s and 60s Fahrenheit.
