Thompson's Lake Campground, situated in the beautiful Helderberg Mountains of New York, offers spectacular views of surrounding natural beauty including lush green mountains and the serene lake. Visitors can enjoy swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking on the numerous trails in the park. The nearby John Boyd Thacher State Park, which is only a 15-minute drive away, offers breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley.

The campground offers a variety of amenities that include showers, picnic tables, fire pits, and electric hookups. There are 140 campsites in total, with some reserved for RVs and others designated for tents. The campground operates on a reservation system, and reservations can be made up to nine months in advance.

An interesting fact about the area is that the lake is actually a man-made reservoir created in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The best time to visit is during the summer months, from June to August, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to low 80s Fahrenheit. However, visitors can also enjoy the fall foliage during September and October when the temperatures cool down to the 50s and 60s Fahrenheit. Overall, Thompson's Lake Campground is a great destination for nature lovers looking for a peaceful retreat.
