CAMPING INDIANA

Turkey Run State Park

April 28, 2024

Turkey Run State Park is a picturesque camping area situated in Indiana that boasts breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The area is famous for its unique sandstone formations that have been carved out by water and wind over time, offering visitors an unparalleled opportunity to explore these natural wonders. The park is also close to other points of interest, such as the covered bridge in Bridgeton, the Cataract Falls State Recreation Area, and the Shades State Park.

The campground amenities include a playground, a camp store, showers, electric and water hookups, and dump stations. The campsite is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and there are 213 campsites in total to accommodate guests. An interesting fact about the park is that it was named after the wild turkeys that roamed the area.

The best time to visit Turkey Run State Park is from May to October when the average temperature ranges between 60°F and 80°F. During this time, visitors can enjoy the mild temperatures and the beautiful fall foliage. However, the park is open year-round, and there are plenty of winter activities to enjoy, such as cross-country skiing and sledding.
