Fort-Carson is located in the southern part of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The climate is typically dry and temperate with an average annual precipitation of 16.3 inches. The hydrology constituents include Fountain Creek, which runs through the eastern part of the base, and several smaller tributaries. Some of the outdoor recreation opportunities available include hiking, fishing, hunting, and camping. The base has several miles of trails that provide access to the surrounding wilderness areas.
