Watershed Hydrology

The Enoree Watershed (HUC 03050108) covers an area of approximately 1,201 square miles in South Carolina. The Enoree River is the main tributary of the Tyger River, which flows into the Broad River and eventually into the Atlantic Ocean. The watershed is characterized by a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. The average annual rainfall is approximately 49 inches, and the average temperature is around 61 degrees Fahrenheit. Snowfall is rare in this area. Surface water in the watershed is primarily used for drinking water, recreation, and irrigation. The main reservoir in the watershed is Lake Greenwood, which was constructed in 1940. The reservoir is used for hydroelectric power generation, flood control, and water supply. Water quality in the Enoree Watershed is generally good, although there are some concerns about nonpoint source pollution from agricultural and urban runoff.
