Watershed Hydrology

The Sugar Watershed (HUC 05120110) covers approximately 109 square miles in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. The area is characterized by high elevations, steep terrain, and abundant snowpack, which acts as a natural reservoir for the region's water supply. The watershed is home to several lakes and reservoirs, including Sugar Pine Reservoir and Rollins Reservoir, which provide water for domestic and agricultural use. The climate in the region is characterized by cool winters and warm summers, with precipitation occurring primarily in the winter months. In recent years, the area has experienced drought conditions, leading to reduced snowpack and lower water levels in reservoirs. Despite these challenges, efforts are underway to improve water management and increase the sustainability of the Sugar Watershed's water resources.
