Watershed Hydrology

The Emory Watershed (HUC 06010208) covers a land area of approximately 1,000 square miles in central Wyoming. The watershed is fed by several tributaries and is part of the larger North Platte River Basin. The hydrology of the watershed is dominated by snowmelt in the spring and summer months, which contributes significantly to surface water flows. The watershed contains several reservoirs, including Seminoe Reservoir and Kortes Reservoir, which serve as important water sources for irrigation and municipal use. The snowpack in the watershed is closely monitored, as it plays a significant role in determining water availability during the growing season. Interesting climatic trends include increasing temperatures and decreasing snowpack in recent years, which may have long-term impacts on water availability and ecosystem health in the watershed.
