Cut Bank

Watershed Hydrology

The Cut Bank Watershed (HUC 10030202) is located in Montana, covering an area of 2,249 square miles. The climate in the area is arid, with an average annual precipitation of 14 inches. The primary source of water in the watershed is snowpack, which typically reaches its peak in April. The main surface water source is the Cut Bank Creek, which flows through the area and eventually joins the Missouri River. The Cut Bank Reservoir, located in the northwest corner of the watershed, is used for irrigation and recreation. The reservoir is known to contain high levels of sediment, which can affect water quality. In recent years, the Cut Bank watershed has experienced increased drought conditions, which have reduced water availability for agricultural and other uses. Additionally, the area has experienced warmer temperatures, earlier melting of snowpack, and increased wildfire activity.
