Rio Felix
Watershed Hydrology
The Rio Felix Watershed covers an area of approximately 1,380 square kilometers in northern Sonora, Mexico. It is characterized by a semi-arid climate with average annual precipitation of 382mm. The watershed is fed by several small tributaries, and the Rio Felix itself is a perennial stream that flows into the Gulf of California. Snowpack is not a significant source of water in the watershed. Surface water quality is generally good, although there are some areas of concern due to agricultural runoff. There are no major reservoirs in the watershed. Interesting climatic facts include high temperatures in the summer, occasional flash floods during the monsoon season, and occasional droughts. Trends in the watershed include increasing urbanization and agricultural development, which may put pressure on water resources in the future.
