Weather Today

November 19 2024

As a relentless surge of natural forces besieges parts of the United States, residents across several states are bracing for the impact or coping with the aftermath. In Oklahoma, the Neosho River near Commerce has breached its banks, prompting an extended flood warning from the NWS Tulsa. Waters are rising, and locals are urged to remain vigilant and follow emergency protocols to ensure safety.

Down South, the Carolinas are not spared, with flood warnings echoing across the region. The Ogeechee, Edisto, and Ohoopee Rivers in South Carolina have all surpassed their thresholds, causing minor flooding with more forecasted to come. Florida faces similar challenges as the Withlacoochee and St. Johns Rivers swell beyond their limits, with affected areas including Dunnel and Astor respectively. Over in Louisiana, the Calcasieu River near Salt Water Barrier has locals on high alert as flood warnings continue. Meanwhile, the fury of the sea is unleashed with special marine warnings along the Louisianian coast – boaters are cautioned against treacherous conditions. Farther north, Alaska is gripped by a series of storm warnings; coastal and inland waters from Kodiak Island to Skagway are roiled by fierce winds and high seas, prompting an urgent call for mariners to seek safe harbor. The West Coast faces its own battle as storm warnings span from Washington through Oregon to Northern California. The central and west entrance waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, as well as the southern Oregon and Northern California coasts, are hammered by gale-force winds and towering waves, a stern reminder of nature's might. Please, if you're in these areas or have loved ones who are, stay informed, and prioritize safety above all. Community support and preparedness can make all the difference in weathering these storms.
