Edwards Lake Dam, located in Green River, Henry County, Illinois, was completed in 1974 by designer Orval Paxton for the primary purpose of recreation. The dam, standing at a height of 34 feet and a length of 225 feet, holds a storage capacity of 85 acre-feet, with normal storage at 61 acre-feet. Its structure is classified as an earth dam with buttress core types, and is state-regulated and inspected by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

With a significant hazard potential and a moderate risk assessment rating, Edwards Lake Dam poses a potential risk to surrounding areas in case of a failure. The dam's spillway type is uncontrolled, with uncontrolled outlet gates. Although its condition assessment is not available, the dam has undergone inspections every 3 years, with the last inspection conducted in September 2015. Despite its risk, the dam continues to provide recreational opportunities for the local community and visitors to enjoy.
