About the duwamish river
The Duwamish River is a 12-mile long river that flows through Seattle, Washington into the Puget Sound. The river has a complex history, having been heavily industrialized in the early 20th century and subsequently becoming polluted. It has since been designated a Superfund site and is undergoing a cleanup effort. The river is fed by several small streams and has two main tributaries, the Green River and the Black River. There are no significant reservoirs or dams on the Duwamish River. Recreational activities on the river are limited due to pollution, but there are several parks along the river that offer hiking and birdwatching opportunities. The Duwamish Valley is also home to a number of urban farms that provide fresh produce to the surrounding communities.
