The Macatawa River is a 25-mile-long river in Ottawa County, Michigan. The river was named by the Ottawa Native Americans, meaning “black water” due to the dark color of the water. The river flows through several towns, including Zeeland and Holland, before emptying into Lake Macatawa. The watershed of the river is about 180 square miles.
