About the meadow river

The Meadow River is a 48-mile-long tributary of the Gauley River in West Virginia, USA. It was once a significant transportation route for the logging industry in the early 1900s. Today, the river is popular for whitewater rafting, kayaking, and fishing. It also provides water for the Meadow River Valley Agriculture Project, which includes several farms and a vineyard. The river is fed by numerous smaller streams and is home to several reservoirs, including the Summersville Lake, which is popular for boating and fishing. The river is regulated by several dams, including the Summersville Dam, which was constructed in the 1960s to control flooding and provide hydroelectric power. Despite the dams, the Meadow River remains a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and those interested in West Virginia's industrial history.
