About the outlet river
The Outlet River is a river located in southern Ontario, Canada. It is approximately 120 km in length and flows from Lake Simcoe to Lake Ontario. The river has a rich history, as it was used by Indigenous peoples for fishing and transportation for thousands of years. Today, the river is used for hydroelectricity generation, with numerous dams and reservoirs along its course. Notable among these are the Trent-Severn Waterway, which includes the Balsam Lake and Talbot dams, and the OPG Upper and Lower Duffins Creek stations. The river also supports recreational activities such as fishing, boating, and camping, as well as agricultural use for irrigation and livestock watering.
