About the toms river

The Toms River is a 41-mile-long river located in New Jersey. It was named after Toms River Township, which was named after a man named Thomas Luker. The river flows through the Pine Barrens and empties into the Barnegat Bay. The hydrology of the Toms River is influenced by its watershed, which includes several reservoirs and dams. The largest of these is the Lakehurst Reservoir, followed by the Upper and Lower Echo Lake Reservoirs. The Toms River has been used for recreational purposes, including fishing and boating, and for irrigation and farming. In recent years, the river gained national attention after an environmental disaster occurred, resulting in contamination by toxic waste. The incident led to cleanup efforts and new regulations to prevent future pollution.
