About the yocona river


The Yocona River is a tributary of the Tallahatchie River in Mississippi, USA. It flows for approximately 95 miles and has a drainage basin of 495 square miles. The river was named after the Yocona Indian tribe who once inhabited the area. The hydrology of the river is affected by the presence of Sardis and Enid Reservoirs, which were built for flood control and irrigation purposes. The Sardis Dam was completed in 1940 and forms the Sardis Reservoir, which has become a popular recreational spot for fishing and boating. Similarly, the Enid Dam was completed in 1952 and forms the Enid Reservoir. The Yocona River is also used for agricultural purposes, with some farmers irrigating their crops using water from the river.
