The Zao Mountains are a volcanic mountain range that includes Mount Zao, which is known for its unique "snow monsters" phenomenon in winter. The resort is also home to a natural hot spring, said to have healing properties. Interestingly, the area was once a thriving silver mine during the Edo period. For beginner skiers, the "Cherry Blossom" run is recommended. For après ski, the "Bar La Montagne" offers a cozy atmosphere and a variety of drinks.
