Virginia may not be the first state you think of for skiing, but it offers some excellent options for those looking to hit the slopes. Here is a guide to some of the most popular resorts in the state, along with average snowfall per season, average snowpacks, and the best month to visit.

1. Wintergreen Resort: Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Wintergreen Resort offers 25 slopes and trails for skiers of all levels. The resort receives an average of 40 inches of snow per season, with a snowpack of 14 inches on average. The best time to visit is January through February.

2. Massanutten Resort: Situated in the Shenandoah Valley, Massanutten Resort boasts 14 slopes and trails, as well as a terrain park for snowboarders. The resort receives an average of 30 inches of snow per season, with a snowpack of 12 inches on average. The best time to visit is January through February.

3. Bryce Resort: Located in the Allegheny Mountains, Bryce Resort offers 8 slopes and trails, as well as a tubing park. The resort receives an average of 30 inches of snow per season, with a snowpack of 12 inches on average. The best time to visit is January through February.

Virginia has a rich ski history, with some of the earliest ski resorts in the country located in the state.
