Fortine is a small community in northwestern Montana with a cool and dry climate. The average temperature in January is around 15°F while it can reach up to 80°F in July. The area receives moderate precipitation, with most of it falling as snow from November to April. The hydrology constituents of the area include several creeks and rivers, the largest being the Stillwater River which offers a great opportunity for fishing and boating. The surrounding mountains also provide opportunities for hiking, camping, and skiing, with the Whitefish Mountain Resort being a popular destination in winter. Additionally, the nearby Flathead National Forest offers a wide range of outdoor recreation opportunities.
