Forest Avenue Westbrook

Put Ins Take Outs Weather

The Forest Avenue Westbrook boat ramp is located in Westbrook, Maine. It is a concrete boat ramp that provides access to Presumpscot River. The ramp is approximately 30 feet wide, making it suitable for launching small to medium-sized boats.

According to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, the Presumpscot River is navigable for motorized boats up to the Smelt Hill Dam in Westbrook. However, beyond the dam, the river becomes shallow and is suitable only for non-motorized watercraft such as canoes and kayaks.

Therefore, the craft permitted on the water depends on the section of the river being accessed. Motorized boats are permitted up to the dam, while non-motorized craft are permitted beyond the dam.

The information provided above is accurate as of September 2021.

Special Weather Statement
Until 2024-05-26T20:15:00-04:00 National Weather Service
* People may underestimate the dangers of the cold water temperatures which are currently only in the lower 60s across Sebago Lake and Lake Winnipesaukee, and colder across other lakes and rivers. * The cold water temperatures can quickly cause hypothermia to anyone immersed in the water. When the water temperature is below 60 degrees, the average submerged person could loose dexterity within minutes and be unable to accomplish simple tasks. Anyone on small boats, canoes, or kayaks should plan accordingly if recreating this weekend and use extreme caution to avoid this threat. Paddle smart from the start and always wear your life jacket! * Strong winds are also expected this weekend with gusts up to 32 mph from the southeast. If boating on large bodies of water, these strong winds can increase the likelihood of overturning your boat, canoe, or kayak due to increased wave heights.
