Winds from the west-southwest around 10 to 20 mph are expected to gust as high as 25 to 30 mph today over portions of the Coastal Plain. While this area did receive rain on Thursday, the blustery winds yesterday resulted in quick drying of fine fuels, which will dry further today. The North Carolina Forest Service has issued a statewide ban on all open burning and has cancelled all burning permits effective from 8 AM Friday until further notice.
