The campground is situated near several points of interest, including Kickapoo State Recreation Area and Kennekuk County Park. Additionally, the area is known for its excellent fishing, hiking, and biking opportunities.
The campground features a variety of amenities, including showers, restrooms, laundry facilities, and a playground. The campsites are available on a first-come-first-serve basis, and there are 150 sites available for tent and RV camping.
One interesting fact about the area is that Twin Oaks Campground is adjacent to the Vermilion County Conservation District’s Heron County Park, which is home to the state’s largest great blue heron rookery.
The best time to visit Twin Oaks Campground is during the summer months when temperatures average in the mid-80s. However, visitors can also enjoy cooler temperatures and fall foliage in the autumn months.
