Walnut Grove Park is a beautiful and serene camping area located in Vivian, Louisiana. The park offers breathtaking views of the surrounding lush green forest and the serene Black Bayou Lake. The camping area is situated near several points of interest like Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area and the Red River National Wildlife Refuge. The Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area offers water sports activities like fishing, boating, and skiing, while the Red River National Wildlife Refuge is home to several species of birds, mammals, and reptiles.
The Walnut Grove Park camping area offers a range of amenities like RV sites with electrical and water hookups, picnic areas, fire pits, and restrooms with showers. The camping area is open to both reservation and first-come-first-serve basis. The campground has a total of 22 campsites, 10 of which are available for reservation.
An interesting fact about the area is that the park is named after a grove of walnut trees that once stood in the area. These trees were so tall that they could be seen from miles away. Unfortunately, they were destroyed by a tornado in the early 1900s.
