Jewett Cove, located on the peaceful northern shore of Flagstaff Lake in Maine’s Bigelow Preserve, offers primitive, first-come, first-served dispersed camping with no established campsites, fees, or reservations required.

There are no toilets, water, hookups, picnic tables, or fire rings—campers must practice Leave No Trace principles. Accessible by rough dirt roads, it's best for tents and high-clearance vehicles, not suitable for RVs. The vibe is quiet and remote, with stunning lakeside views backed by forested mountains. Paddle-in camping is popular, and nearby trails include access to the Appalachian Trail and Bigelow Mountain range. Best visited from late spring to early fall.
