Camp Loop B campground

The Camp Loop B camping area is located in the Green Ridge State Forest, which is a part of the Appalachian Mountains of Maryland. Another interesting site is the Paw Paw Tunnel, a 3,118-foot-long tunnel that was built in the mid-19th century to allow boats to bypass a series of rapids on the Potomac River.

The campground amenities at Camp Loop B include fire rings, picnic tables, and vault toilets. Campsites are available for tents and RVs, and there is a maximum stay of 14 days. The area is also pet-friendly, but pets must be kept on a leash at all times.

Green Ridge State Forest has an interesting history, with evidence of Native American settlements dating back thousands of years. In the mid-19th century, the area was logged heavily, and the forest was used for agriculture and mining. In the 1930s, the Civilian Conservation Corps began work on restoring the forest and building recreational facilities, including campgrounds, hiking trails, and picnic areas.

Average temperatures in October and November range from the mid-50s to the mid-60s during the day and drop down to the mid-30s to low-40s at night. Visitors should be aware that the campground is closed during the winter months, from December through March.
