Situated near the Gila National Forest, the area is known for its stunning vistas of the mountains, lakes, and forests.
The Wall Lake Camping Area is located near several points of interest, including the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, the Catwalk National Recreation Trail, and the Mogollon Box Canyon. Visitors can enjoy hiking, fishing, and bird watching in the area.
The campground amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, potable water, and vault toilets. The campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and there are 12 sites available.
An interesting fact about the area is that it was once a popular destination for miners during the Gold Rush in the late 1800s. The miners used the nearby streams to pan for gold and silver.
The best time of year to visit Wall Lake Camping Area is from May to September when the weather is warm, and the average temperatures range from 70 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and 40 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit at night. Visitors should note that the area can experience thunderstorms during the summer months.
