Taughannock Falls State Park is a beautiful camping area located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. The park boasts breathtaking views of Taughannock Falls, one of the highest waterfalls east of the Rocky Mountains. The surrounding area is also home to wineries, breweries, and other attractions such as the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail and the Finger Lakes National Forest.
The camping area offers a range of amenities, including showers, restrooms, and picnic tables, and there are both tent and RV sites available. The campground operates on a first-come-first-serve basis, and there are 70 campsites in total.
One interesting fact about the area is that Taughannock Falls is actually taller than Niagara Falls! It measures 215 feet tall, while Niagara Falls is only 167 feet tall.
The best time of year to visit is in the summer months, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s. However, the autumn months also offer a stunning display of fall foliage and cooler temperatures for those who prefer a quieter camping experience.
