CAMPING AREA
December 1, 2024

Encampment River Campsite 8 is a developed, non-reservable campsite located in the Upper North Platte watershed of Wyoming. The campground is located in a picturesque valley surrounded by mountains, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The area is popular for fishing and hiking, with nearby trails leading to scenic waterfalls and serene alpine lakes.

The campground offers amenities such as potable water, vault toilets, and picnic tables. Campfires are also permitted in designated fire rings. However, there is no trash collection available, so visitors must pack out all their garbage.

One interesting fact about the area is that it was once home to several mining towns during the gold rush era. Visitors can still see the remains of old mines and ghost towns scattered throughout the surrounding mountains.

The best time of year to visit Encampment River Campsite 8 is during the summer months of June through August, when temperatures average around 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit. However, visitors should be prepared for cooler temperatures at night, as temperatures can drop into the 40s or even 30s.
