Castalia, Iowa is a small town located in the northeastern part of the state. The climate is humid continental with four distinct seasons, including cold winters and warm summers. The town is situated near the Turkey River, which provides opportunities for fishing and kayaking. Unfortunately, the river has also been impacted by high levels of nitrogen and phosphorus from agricultural runoff, leading to harmful algal blooms. Despite this, there are hiking trails and camping opportunities in the nearby Yellow River State Forest. Castalia is also home to several parks, including a community park with a playground and baseball fields.
