Timms Hill

1,952 ft

Timms Hill is a prominent peak located in the North American Plains mountain range. Standing at an elevation of 1,951 feet (595 meters) above sea level, it holds the distinction of being the highest natural point in the state of Wisconsin, USA. The hill covers an area of approximately 2 square miles (5.2 square kilometers) and is situated within Timms Hill County Park.

During the winter season, Timms Hill experiences a range of snowpack depths due to its location in the northern part of the state. Snowfall can vary greatly from year to year, but on average, the area receives around 50 inches (127 centimeters) of snow annually. This makes it a popular destination for winter recreational activities such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Several creeks and rivers in the vicinity of Timms Hill receive runoff from the mountain. These include Spirit Creek, which flows eastward, and the South Fork of the Spirit River, which runs southwards. These waterways contribute to the overall ecosystem and provide habitats for various wildlife species in the region.

The name "Timms Hill" is derived from William Timms, an early settler in the area during the mid-19th century. The hill holds significance for the local community and has become a symbol of pride for Wisconsin residents. While there are no specific legends or folklore associated with Timms Hill, its historical and geographical importance make it a noteworthy landmark in the North American Plains mountain range.
