The class rating for Bear Creek is Class III-IV, with some sections reaching Class V during high water.

The creek features several challenging rapids and obstacles, including "Entrance Exam," a steep Class IV drop; "Little Niagara," a powerful Class V rapid; and "The S-Turns," a technical Class IV section.

To protect the safety of visitors, there are specific regulations in place for the Bear Creek area. It is required that all visitors wear appropriate safety gear, including a helmet, personal flotation device, and appropriate footwear. Additionally, visitors are prohibited from camping or building fires within 100 feet of the creek, and must pack out all trash and waste.
