Yokahú Tower

<p>This 69 foot tower was built by Dr. Frank H. Wadsworth (former Forest Supervisor and Director of IITF) in the early 1960&rsquo;s. Four types of the forest can be viewed from Yokah&uacute; Tower: Colorado (smooth to the south), Tabonuco (irregular surrounding with white-leaved Yagrumos), Palm (on the steep slopes) and Cloud Forest (on the ridges) are all visible along with the coastline and all the way to the Virgin Islands on a clear day (10 mile + view). The dense old forest of the Ba&ntilde;o de Oro Research Natural Area in the upper Mameyes Valley to the east may also be viewed.</p><p><strong>Location:</strong> Road 191 km 8.8</p><p><strong>Amenities: </strong>&nbsp;Parking</p><p><strong>Special Safety Messages:</strong>&nbsp;Yokahu Tower is open from&nbsp;9 AM to 4:00 PM.&nbsp; It is being operated by the Forest concession, El Yunque Food Corp.. They will be managing tower access and monitoring to meet current health and safety guidelines, which includes social distancing and wearing masks</p><p>__________________________________________________</p><p>Esta torre de 69 pies fue construida por el Dr. Frank H. Wadsworth (ex Supervisor Forestal y Director de IITF) a principios de los a&ntilde;os 1960&rsquo;s. Se pueden ver cuatro tipos de bosque desde la Torre Yokah&uacute;: Colorado (los arboles suave en el sur), Tabonuco (los arboles de Yagrumos con hojas blancas), Palma Sierra y el Bosque de Nubes (en las &aacute;reas altas).&nbsp;&nbsp; Se puede ver toda la costa y hasta las Islas V&iacute;rgenes en un d&iacute;a claro (10 millas + vista). Tambi&eacute;n se puede ver el bosque antiguo del &Aacute;rea Natural de Investigaci&oacute;n Ba&ntilde;o de Oro en el valle superior de Mameyes, al este.</p><p><strong>Ubicaci&oacute;n:</strong> Carretera 191 km. 8.8.</p><p><strong>Servicios:</strong>&nbsp;Estacionamiento</p><p><strong>Nota de seguridad:</strong> La Torre Yokahu est&aacute; abierta&nbsp;de 9 am a 4:00 pm.
