The brook is primarily fed by agricultural runoff, wetlands, and several small tributaries. There are no major dams on the brook, but a few smaller dams do exist. Flow rates tend to be highest in the spring and lowest in the late summer and fall. Interestingly, the Burlington Brook was once home to a thriving native brook trout population, but pollution has significantly impacted the quality of the water and the fish population has declined. Despite this, efforts to improve the water quality of the brook are ongoing.
