The bayou does not have any major dams, but there are several small weirs that help regulate its flow. During the wet season, the flow rate can reach up to 4,000 cubic feet per second, while during the dry season it can drop to less than 50 cubic feet per second. Interestingly, the Bayou Bartholomew is known as the longest bayou in the world, stretching 359 miles from Arkansas to Louisiana.
