The constituents of the flow include water from the Wissahickon Creek itself as well as any tributaries that feed into it. There are several dams along the creek that can affect the flow rate at the streamgauge. Seasonal trends show higher flow rates in the spring due to snowmelt and rainfall, while summer months see lower flow rates. Interestingly, the Wissahickon Creek was once used for industrial purposes, including gristmills and paper mills. Today, it is a popular recreational spot for hiking and fishing.
