Weather today, Tomorrow,
The creek is fed by several small tributaries and is also affected by seasonal trends, such as increased flow during spring runoff and lower flow during summer months. There are no major dams in the immediate area of the gauge station, but the creek does flow through some agricultural land. Interestingly, the creek gets its name from an incident in the 1850s where several Native American men were hanged by a group of settlers and their bodies were left near the creek. Despite this dark history, Hangman Creek is an important waterway for both recreational and ecological purposes.
