Quemado Lake Dam, also known as Largo Creek Dam, is a state-owned structure located in Catron, New Mexico. Built in 1971 by CHAMBERS & CAMPBELL, INC., this earth dam stands at a height of 73 feet with a hydraulic height of 58 feet and a structural height of 100 feet. The dam's primary purpose is for recreation, offering a storage capacity of 5,538 acre-feet and a surface area of 130 acres.
Managed by the Office of the State Engineer, Quemado Lake Dam is equipped with an uncontrolled spillway that has a width of 200 feet. The dam's hazard potential is rated as low, with a satisfactory condition assessment as of September 2014. Despite its moderate risk level, the dam has a history of meeting safety guidelines and is inspected every five years to ensure its continued functionality and safety for the surrounding area.
