Calero Reservoir
Calero Reservoir is located in Santa Clara County, California, and was built in 1935 by the Santa Clara Valley Water District. The reservoir has a capacity of 9,934 acre-feet and is primarily used for drinking water and flood control. The reservoir is fed primarily by surface flows from the Calero Creek watershed, as well as by snowmelt from the nearby Santa Cruz Mountains. It provides water to the Santa Teresa Water Treatment Plant, which serves over 100,000 customers. The surrounding area is used for recreational activities such as fishing, boating, and hiking. The reservoir is also used for irrigation of nearby agricultural lands, particularly for crops such as almonds and grapes.
