LK Electra and NR Electra are two man-made lakes located in Electra, Texas. Created in the 1950s as part of a regional flood control project, the lakes serve as important reservoirs for the surrounding area. The hydrology of the lakes is largely influenced by Wichita River and its tributaries, which feed into the lakes. The surrounding area receives relatively little snow, so snowpack is not a significant source of water for the lakes.
Apart from serving as water sources for municipal and agricultural purposes, the lakes are also popular recreational destinations for fishing, boating, and swimming. The lakes are stocked with a variety of fish species including catfish, bass, and crappie. The surrounding area is also home to several farms and ranches, which rely on the lakes for irrigation. Overall, LK Electra and NR Electra play an important role in the hydrology and economy of the Electra region of Texas.
